I have a Dell Laptop, Latitude, with the Xircom network card. When I had w2k on this machine I could hear when it was trying to connect. I put XP Home on it and now I cant get the modem to sound when it is dialing. It says it is 0n. Can you help me?

A suggestion
On my desktop, I needed to un-mute the TAD-in input in
volume controls, since my modem is connected to my sound
card's TAD-in input. Double click the sound icon in the
system notification area (tray)>options>properties.
Put a check in the box for TAD-in, OK. Then un-mute and
adjust in volume control.
Hope this helps,
John

Try this...

Control Panel|PHONE & MODEMS|MODEMS tab|PROPERTIES|ADVANCED tab

In the Extra Settings box, type...

M1L2

Click on OK to exit
