I got answers here. They suggest that to buy a cable to connect to a lineout
on a sound card. My question is I got a laptop, there is nowhere you could
find that there is lineout. You acutally cannot find there is a one on my
latest dell laptop. How stupid is that while they provide a S-video without
a sound plug-in? how do you resolve this problem by using a laptop?

thanks

Hi Brian,

If your laptop does not have an external audio port (like what you would see
on a portable cd-player or an mp3 player) then you have 2 options you can go
out and get either a USB external sound card or a PCMCIA Sound Card (which
you must have a pcmcia slot on your laptop that is open it will look like a 2
inch long slot on the side of the laptop. Both the USB and the PCMCIA cards
are superior to internal laptop sound anyway. If you post back with the
model of your laptop we will be able to tell you what you need. Here are
some links to some good sound cards of both types:

USB - Creative External Sound Blaster Live! SB0490

PCMCIA - Creative 70SB053000012

Good Luck,

The headphone jack is equivalent to line out.

S-video stand for "seperate"-video NOT "sound"-video, thats why it you
want "sound" signal you need to provide a sound source. As provided in
other post, use the earphone or external speaker jack.
