My computer got upgraded from Windows 2000 to Windows XP Professional. When I had 2000 the media player was working just fine, now since I have XP I can no longer play music. It says my sound card is missing or incorrect, which should not be the case at all. I talked to some people and they told me that I need a new port. Where can I find this new port? Please reply ASAP

You don't need a new port but you probably do need new XP supported audio
drivers. Download either Aida32 or Belarc Advisor and they may tell you
what is installed for a sound card. If not you'll have to open up the case
and get some numbers from it. You should be able to find the drivers you
need from the manufacturers website or by doing a search.

Did you install the drivers for the sound card?

If you a CD with the different drivers of your computer, check to see
that the sound card drivers for XP are present and install them.

If you know the manufacturer, you can go to their Web page and
download the latest drivers for it.

I don't believe you need a new port at all, just correct and updated
drivers.
