You must know what sound card you have. Look on your receipt/invoice for
the computer - ask the people you bought the system from, open it up and
look, etc.

There are applications out there that can identify what hardware you have,
but I think they all depend on a properly installed system - as I think they
pull the information from the registry. Perhaps they do not - so I will
recommend you try two different ones:

EVEREST Home Edition

Belarc Advisor
http://belarc.com/free_download.html

Once you know what you have, what next? Go get the latest driver for your
hardware/OS from the manufacturer's web page. For example, let's say you
have an NVidia chipset video card or ATI video card, perhaps a Creative
Labs sound card or C-Media chipset sound card...

NVidia Video Card Drivers

ATI Video Card Drivers
http://www.atitech.com/support/driver.html

Creative Labs Sound Device
http://us.creative.com/support/downloads/

C-Media Sound Device
http://www.cmedia.com.tw/e_download_01.htm

Good luck!

We are not mind readers here. You will have to figure out for yourslef what
it is you uninstalled and reinstall it. For example, what is Sound Max?
Where did you get it? Manufacturer?

Check the device manager for issues. Recheck the wiring - likely problem
and then run sound recorder to test. Open volume control and see if you
have muted the sound.

The information is provided "as is", it is suggested you research for
yourself before you take any advice - you are the one ultimately
responsible for your actions/problems/solutions. Know what you are
getting into before you jump in with both feet.

Hi Ashley, You can go to "driverGuide.com" and find a compatible sound
driver.just sign in as a new member: your login name will be " Driver1"
your password will be "all" . enter your computer's make and type of window's
you are running and what device driver you are looking for: Ie: sound card.
scroll down to download driver, scroll on down and enter the three letter's
you will see in a box, select hard drive as your download destination, then
download. computer should restart on it's own. and if you selected a
compatiable driver you should be listening to your tunes again. email me
personally if you still need more help. hope to help.
