how can i fix the sound problem. before i was using WIN
ME and and it was working. when i install win XP i use
clean install not an upgrade. the sound card is detected
and installed, no conflict. i downloaded the windows
update but unfortunately it didn't work. i downloaded the
sound card driver at gateway's website for my Sound
Blaster Live and installed and still no sound coming out
from the speaker. i change speakers too and still the
same. Please help thanks....

Make sure you have not got the sound muted out in xp.
Sounds to me (not to you obviously ;-) ) that it is just
sound being muted or your default source for sound is
incorrectly selected. Also, check if digital sound is
ticked in creative sound mixer, if it is untick it, then
click on test. check that the volume sliders in xp are not
turned down, hope this info resolves you issue.
