Recently a technican replaced my motherboard with a used board. Since then
my D drive (CD ROM) and E drive (burner) have generally not showed up in
Windows Explorer or Device manager. (At a Sony technican's direction, I shut
down the computer, disconnected the burner and restarted. The E drive was
fine, but soon disappearred again.)

Personally I'm not in favour of using second hand mainboards... Where did it
come from? Why is it second hand, ie was it replaced because it was faulty?
Whos the cheapskate here, you or the technician that did the job? far better
off to by a new board, you have a far better chance of getting a good one,
with all the correct drivers, and if it is faulty its covered by warranty.
just my opinion.....
