Mary Beth

I have found the answer to this problem in this chat room but the
information was either incomplete or I didn't understand it because I
am still having the same problem. The other person wrote:

Click Start, Click Control Panel
Double Click Mail Icon
Click Show Profiles
In the mail dialog Box, click add
Follow the prompts of the inbox setup wizard

This information doesn't make sense to me (I'm not very good with
computers). First of all there is already a MSN profile (I created a
second one, which didn't help). Second problem is, even though I
followed all the steps about outgoing and incoming server information
(provided by my isp), I still don't have a send button in outlook.

Can someone give me more specific steps.

Mary Beth,

did you ever get any help on this problem? I have had the
same problem and have finally figured out how to resolve
it. However the explanation is a bit lengthy and before
sending you the details thought that I should verify that
you are still having problems.

The short resolution to this is:

Export your email messages and address book (someplace
easy to find like C:/temp/backup.pst) as a backup from
Outlook -- use the File Menu item | Import and Export |
Export to a file | Personal Folder File (pst)

Go to the Mail icon in the control panel as suggested to
you originally
Create a NEW profile and set that as the default (or, to
start with, have Outlook prompt you for which profile to
use).
You will have to recreate your email accounts for this
new profile -- including passwords and names and such.
Close and then reopen Outlook. Select the new profile
and then import your email folders back into this new
profile. (File | Import and Export again)
Once you are sure that everything is working and set up
you should go and delete the old profile from the Mail
icon in the Control Panel.

Hope this helps. If you need more details let me know and
I'll write them up.

Bill t.

You should not have to export/import anything. Just reuse the same pst
files in the new profile.
