When I attempt to search a folder of file with Windows Explorer it always
returns no results found. Even if I search on something simple like "A" it
will not ever find any results. This used to work fine now suddenly it
stopped working. Does anyone have any clues on how to fix this?
thanks

Open Explorer and press Ctrl-F. Scroll down to "More advanced options"
and check the options to see that you don't have it set too specific.
Also check the Modified or Size options to make sure it matches what
you're looking for. Selecting "A" in "All or part of the file name" may
not result in anything, so try a*.* and see what happens.

Trs80,

If you find somewhere in this group the suggested solution by Remesh,MS-MVP
re: re-installing Srchasst.inf file, it works for me. After that I went
further to "Change Preference" in Search function " & change from enable
indexing ... to "No do not enable Indexing Service". Before the change my
searching was sporadic, especially when I do a lot of things with the
computer then make a search. It sometimes does not give me result. Now after
the change (perhaps this is a coincidence) search function continues to
work, so far. If it stops, I will post my problem.
