My reply is at the bottom of your sent message:
Well I built this machine a year ago, I think it used to! No it's not
a usb network, its an gigabit Nforce 3 Motherboard network. I fix
Windows and Pc problems for a living. I occasioanally use safe mode
to download virus detection signatures when regular mode is swamped
with spyware and crap. It does come in handy. I can live with out it.
I just like stuff to work even if I dont need it! (I like to know why
its broke too)

A pretty long search shows mostly people saying silly things that SHOULD not
matter. All most all of them are saying it's drivers and, well, that could
be the case but it seems illogical to me. If it were a driver issue I'd
guess that you'd likely have the problems in regular mode as well. So, where
does that leave us? In your device manager (in safe mode with networking) do
the devices appear? How about if you use a different account - do they then
appear? This is a curious one (which is why I was attracted to it) and I
suppose I'd look there next. I'm also wondering about the connection
itself - meaning is there anything installed (perhaps some firewall that
loads as a service that is required before a connection can be made) that
could be preventing this?
