I am trying to help a friend with some computer
problems, and to start with she has no RUN command on
her menu. She also has no MSCONFIG.EXE file in the
SYSTEM32 folder. I may be asking additional questions
later, but for now can anyone tell me how to restore
the RUN command to the START menu?

Thanx,

To add RUN to the menu.
Right-click on the Start button and choose Properties from the menu
Then choose the "customize" button
Then choose the "advanced" tab and check the box for "display run on the
start menu"
Then ok your self out of the dialog windows.

for msconfig, look in \windows\pchealth\helpctrl\binaries
or extract it from the I386 folder

** My version of W-XP H has *NO* Properties button on the start menu! How
do I get it there - where do I find it?

Hi,

Not start menu. Move the mouse pointer to the start
button and then right clik the mouse. In the open window,
select property and left click the mouse. In the open
diagram, left click the customize button and then click
the advance tab. Press the downward arrow button and
check the box "display Run"

Richard,

Thanks. I found it on my system, but I am trying
to help a friend by telephone, but I suspect her damage
is from a virus and may require a reload of XP. Anyway,
if I can run msconfig on hers, I may be able to see
what is going on.
