Hey, I just got home from work to find that kaspersky had completed a scan
and found 12 dangerous object and 6 trojans on my computer, so I cleaned them
all and restarted my pc...now, for some reason, nothing works...no matter
what I click no windows open, the programs come up on the processes list but
never actually appear on the screen.

Any ideas what is wrong? (a minute ago the cpu usage shifted too 99% and
everything went really really slow)

Yes I know what's going on. Even tho you remove viruses and/or trojans,
the damage they can/will cause often still remains. Best bet in the
future is NOT to download viruses/trojans and/or install them.

Thanks, that was really realy helpful...sigh!

I didnt download and instal trojans, obiously. What I need is help fixing
the problem, not advice so poor that it wouldnt even have helped to avoid the
problem. That was almost as useless as the guy who said "help the economy
and buy a new computer" last time I came here.

Can anyone actually help please?

I didnt say I had "downloaded and installed" torjans...you do know that you
can get viruses without downloading them and installing them manually
right?...who would download a virus on purpose? Is this really what passes
for "help and support"?

btw, for anyone who could actually offer help...the pc works fine in safe
mode, I ran another scan in safemode and found nothing. Now when I run it in
normal mode the windows xp blue tab bar skin is replaced by the classic grey
tab bar skin. And when I click and drag the only window which will open
(task manager) the movement is jerky and the cpu usage shifts to 100% within
seconds.

Thanks
Randa

That sounds like you are still infected. Spybot S&D, and Adaware SE are
a couple more things to try on it.

Hello , I am only 2 years experiened with the PC/Web . Did you Turn off
"System Restore" before removing ? Are you using XP and SP2 ? If you find a
virus keeps coming back after you delete it, it's most probably infected the
System Restore folder, the best way to solve this is to disable System
Restore, reboot your machine and then enable it again.

In order to get a virus you must:

1. Download it, and
2. Install it.

A virus is just a program/application that does nasty things. You have
to make the effort to get/acquire it.
