For templates and documents that I have created, there is no preview in the
preview pane of the "file open" it just says "preview not available".

Is there some way of turning on prewiew for an already created document or
is it some option that I need to "check" before saving.

Help appreciated

Open your document, click "File", "Properties, on the "Summary" TAB at the
bottom is a "Save Preview picture" checkbox that can be checked. Please
keep in mind that this feature increases the file size of your document
because it must include a thumbnail image of the first page of your document
as well as the document itself.

What version of Word? In File | Open, I get a preview of every document I've
created, whether or not a preview has been saved (there are two kinds of
previews). Only in File | New do I ever see "Preview not available."
