I can see thumbnails of all the photos in the My Pictures
folder, but when I try to open some photos in Windows
Picture and Fax Viewer, I get a "No Preview Available"
message. ACDSee 5.0 won't open them either, and I cannot
make backup copies of them. However, I can still print
them. I am having this problem with only some photos;
others still open and copy normally. Does anyone know
how I can regain the ability to open and copy the problem
files?

Maybe these articles will shed some light:

Thanks for the suggestions, John; but I don't use AOL,
and these are not photos I downloaded from the Internet.
They are photos downloaded from my digital camera. The
strange thing is that out of thousands of photos (.jpgs),
about 95 won't copy or preview, but they will print and
show up as thumbnails. Maybe the files are just damaged
somehow.
