I just downloaded SP2 and the only problem (knock on wood so far) is all email I receive with pictures or illustrations ex. CNet or HP newsletters have only boxes with an "X" for where these should be. Is anyone having this problem or does anyone know a fix other than deleting SP2???

Thanx so much for any advise. Judi

Open Outlook Express and from the Toolbar select:
Tools > Options > Security, uncheck "Block images
and other external content in HTML e-mail", then
click on Apply.

I'm having the same problems exactly and all "show pictures" settings are
OK, both here and at my ISP webmail end.
It's become so annoying that I've used the SP2 email help center...no answer
so far.
Right clicking on images does not give the "show image" option. I have no
software settings that would block images either.
I suspect, but am not sure, that it was an office update that came in,
which, naturally, is not removable. Not sure I even needed an office update
but MS said I did, despite only having the Powerpoint Viewer installed.
I tried a repair install which of course wiped out my sys. restore option

By the way it isn't SP2 that's the cause. It worked fine for me until 3
days ago...I've had SP2 since the early Beta days.
In my case it looks like a clean format/install AGAIN ;-(

Judi, after extensive research into this problem because I had it and
everyone was saying to re-install XP. That was not an option for me. I have
found my problem to be a corrupt hosts file located in
c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc just rename the hosts file or delete it. the
system will create a new one. hope this works as well for you as it did for
me,

John
