I recently set up so that my wife can access my second hard drive a 250gb
drive with pictures on it. This was working fine but now my wife can't access
the files now. The laptop can't but I am still able to access her computer.

Does anyone know what the problem could be.

Thanks for your help.

Please define "can't access the files...".
# Can't see the computer, in My Network Places?
# Can't get a list of files, when you click on a share?
# Can't access individual files?
And the complete text of any error message would be good.

Hi Chuck,

I'm not sure if you're aware of it or not, but whenever I click on the
various http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com links that you provide, I get a
Dial-up connection sign-in box (I'm using broadband).

And if I close the dialog box by clicking on the X in the top right hand
corner, I'm put in offline status. I then need to go to File | Work offline
to deselect, in order to get back to online status.

Alan,

That's strange. Do you just get this when viewing my blog, when viewing Blogger
blogs in general, or when surfing the web? There have been some strange goings
on with Blogger recently, but your symptom doesn't ring a bell.

Hi Chuck,

I'm sorry I haven't answered earlier, but I've not logged into this
newsgroup for a few days.

Anyway, to answer your question, so far yours is the only one I'm noticing
it on -- although I really don't know how many Blogger (BlogSpot) websites I
actually try to visit. If you want me try a couple of Blogger sites, please
post the links and I'll try going to those.

As far as general Web surfing goes, I don't have any problems at all.

Sorry, I forgot where I posted this questions at.

In can't accessing my computer is
Can't ping it
Can't print to the printer, which is connected to my computer
can't access the harddrive in which all the pictures reside.

I have totally shut down my firewall (zonealarm)

but the werid thing is that I can access her computer and lookat a shared
folder I placed over there.

Everything was running fine I was able to share the my 250gb drive but my
computer can't been seen on the network anymore.

I haven't changed anything on the network since I got this working.

Thanks for your help in this matter.

Here is more information for you:

I have a server running windows 2003

I have four computer running windows XP Pro Latest service pack.

All the computer connect via a netgear 8 port switch which in return connect
to the server. The server acts as the DCHP server.

The internet comes in to the server via a wireless router in which is our
VOIP router.

printer is hooked up to my computer.

The printer has worked since late 2004 when we set up the network.

the ping information from my wifes computer is the following

ping 192.168.15.102 sent packets 4 loss packets 4 100% loss

So it looks like that my computer is being hidden from the network so that
no one can access it but I can access thier computers.

I hope this helps.

Thanks,

Zone Alarm is known for this sort of problem. You have to either configure it
properly, or un install it completely, following all instructions from ZoneLabs.

If you like, we could look at "browstat status", "ipconfig /all", "net config
server", and "net config workstation", from each computer, and diagnose the
problem. Read this article, and linked articles, and follow instructions
precisely (download browstat!):
