I get an error message on startup that says 'Generic host process error' and
another that indicates the problem is with svchost.exe. As a result, I have
no network icon in the system tray and no network access.

Any ideas?

Brian,

There is a good chance that this may indicate a malware infection. Please start

Thanks, but I have no internet access with the computer with the problem.

Are there other computers on the network with this one, or is it a standalone?
If other computers, do any have Internet access? What are you doing, or
intending to do, with network access on this computer?

This isn't a game of 21 questions. Help us to help you.
