My problem is strange and got me quite baffled. On my LAN
I've got 3 computers running DSL through a US Robotics
router. No problem until yesterday. Two will access the
internet with no problem, while the third will not. I've
changed network cables and ports on the router. With no
luck. I checked my LAN settings on that system and
nothings been changed. I uninstalled the network device
and reinstalled it. No dice. I checked my hosts file to
ensure that a rogue program hadn't changed it. No change
there.
Strange thing is, is that I have complete access to my
shared folders on the other two computers from the third.
Now with LAN access but, no internet access, what does
that tell me.............nothing.
Strange, but, true.
Any help guys?????
Thanks in advance

Had a similar problem at work - have a LAN with lots of PCs and they have assigned IP addresses. I also tried changing patch cables, hubs, etc, finally the IT guys suggested changing from assigned IP to dynamically assigned. That solved the problem. Still don't know why... But also be sure to check for viruses and worms. You can use the "netstat -an" command at command prompt to see what ports are open.
