no install of sp1 for windows xp

tried to download and install sp1 but all the file did
was download , then when i tried to install it
reconnected to the inet and then said the server was
reset and would not continue. tried twice and sam
happened. there is a way to install without the inet
connection. does anyone have an idea? we appreciate it!
