No Icons

When booting up XP, gets done but comes to a blank desktop, Nothing but the
background and a mouse cursor. No icons, taskbar, no nothing but a mouse
pointer. I can ctl, alt, del and open the task manager. but can start a new
application ( explorer.exe) from there.
Any Help ?

Right click desktop---select arrange icons---click 'show desktop icons'.

I don't get a right click. Nothing There.
Nothing under right or left click.
