Any idea of what I might try to correct the following problem: My Internet
Explorer 6 program (version 0.2800.1106.xpsp2.030422-1633) no longer
displays grapics. Instead there is an outline of the box/rectangle where the
graphic should be; and in the upper left corner of this area, there is the
outline of a box; the box contains the blue triangle in its lower left
corner, the blue circle midway up the right side, and the red square in its
upper right corner.

The problem began after I made the mistake of downloading what was
represented as being a Yahoo Messenger security update. I should note that
my home page has also been reset to http://prosearching.com, and I am unable
to change that to any other website.

I have run Spybot and Spyware Blaster, Norton Antivirus (with the current
definitions), and Adaware, but nothing so far has corrected the problem.
Have been unable to find anything directly addressing this on the Microsoft
website. I've noticed that messages in MS Outlook 2002 SP2 also do not
display graphics. Images previously cut and pasted into MS Word 2002 still
display. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Meant to mention that the OS is Windows XP Pro.(System Restore not an
option--has never worked.) I realize the problem may not be IE6, but could
find nothing on the MS site relating to the problem in connection with the
OS, IE6, or Office. As the most noticeable problem is with IE6, thought I'd
try here first.

Hi,
Prosearching appears to be a lop.com variant. See if the uninstall
instructions at http://prosearching.com/help.html or
http://www.doxdesk.com/parasite/lop.html help.

If unsuccessful with that, go to
http://www.aumha.org/a/quickfix.htm Work through steps 1-3, then post a
HijackThis log for analysis (step 4.)

If cleaning out the spyware and parasites still leaves you unable to view
images, start here: http://www.fjsmjs.com/IE/redx.htm

Hope this helps,
Don

While you are at it, go to Tools, Internet Options, Connections, LAN
Settings...and make sure all three checkboxes are cleared.

If that gets you online, go to
http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html and download, update and run
SpywareBlaster. This will keep programs from hijacking your homepage and proxy
settings. It will also restrict most ad-ware pages, like the one you went to.
(It will put them in the Restriced group.)

Thanks. Looked earlier for a program to uninstall in add/remove programs,
but didn't see any obvious ones; the Uninstall instructions in your first
link pointed it out. That got the homepage back. Your last link provided
suggestions that got the images back (the check I had in the "show pictures"
box in the Advanced tab of IE Options had become unchecked). Appreciate your
help.

Thanks--made a point of checking the LAN settings box and unchecked
automatic configuration.
