I installed the SP2 upgrade successfully. I have a
firewall router in front of my system so I have turned off
Windows firewall. I have also checked the box in
Recommendations that I have a firewall solution that I
will monitor myself.
Every time I boot up the box gets unchecked and I have an
alert balloon pop up from my system tray telling me the
firewall is not turned on.
Is there a way to stop this annoyance?
Thanks.

Control panel, security center, change the way security center alerts me,
uncheck the firewall option. It will not alert you anymore.

A hardware firewall protects against incoming but does not warn you of what
is outgoing.. run a software firewall.. there are free ones out there..

Sometimes making a change for the alert setting in the security center
applet does not stick on reboot. If that's the case then you will need
to disable the security center service in services.msc.

Note even with a firewall/router you should still run a software
firewall that monitors out bound traffic. Sygate, Zonealarm, Kerio all
have good free ones.
