my broadband connection has been working fine, and dialling up when I
clicked on IE. However now for some unknown reason when I try to connect in
this way it says 'no connection to the internet is available' the dial up is
selected and configured and works fine if I dial up from the connection icon
directly or use OE. Anyone know why this has happened now and how to remedy
it?

Ditto.

I started having this problem last week AFTER updating IE from the MS web site.
Al, I did the update had the problem on valentines day. I have fixed it now
as I was pointed in the direction of the google toolbar, do you have it?

James,

Check under Control Panel > Internet Options > Connections that
'Always dial up the predetermined connection' is checked.

Good luck

James,
Yes. I have the Google Toolbar. What's the fix ? And how did you find it ?
you can either uninstall it or go to the registry with regedit and I
disabled the promo by simply renaming
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Google\NavClient\1.1\Promo to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Google\NavClient\1.1\BadPromo
By doing that, the toolbar doesn't see the valentine mess and all works
fine.
