I bought a used Dell off the Dell website a while back, but I didn't realize
until recently that there was no CoA stuck on the case nor anywhere in the
paperwork. Is this info stored on the harddrive and is it accessibe?

The information is accessible but not directly. Download
a third-party application such as Belarc Advisor and install.
The URL is www.belarc.com.

If you're looking for the XP installation key, and you have a working
version of XP, some utilities can retrieve it. Here's one:

http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder.shtml

However, it may also be possible to contact Dell. If the machine has a
legally installed copy of Windows on it, it's the seller's responsibility to
provide the certificate.

Address scrambled. Replace nkbob with bobkn.

Any of these should retrieve the key from a working installation:

ViewXP http://www.webtree.ca/windowsxp/ViewKeyXP.exe

AIDA32 http://www.aumha.org/freeware.htm

Belarc Advisor http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

Magical Jellybean http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder.shtml

Thanks...this worked....I should have been more specific in that I was
looking for the Windows XP CoA.
