I have Windows XP home edition. When I'm online using a dial up connection and someone calls my home, they don't get a busy signal. The phone just keeps ringing and ringing. How do I configure XP so they will get a busy signal?

Hi,

It sounds like you have Call Waiting.
You'll need to disable Call waiting, depending on your phone provider it can
be either *70, #70, or something else. Please check with your phone provider
to find out which string disables your Call waiting.

To put the settings in, go to your Control Panel -> Phone and Modem Options
and in your Dialing Rules edit Your location profile and you'll see a
checkmark box that is labelled To disable call waiting, dial..
Put a checkmark in that box, and put in the correct string.
Now hit OK.

Thanks Gary, although I don't have call waiting, putting in the *70 fixed the problem. The phone now gives a busy signal
