No background colour in con names...

I need help remembering how to remove the backgound colour for my desktop
icons. So that you are able to just see the words over my wallpaper. I have
done this once before, but now I can't remember how to change it. Please help
me.
 
Right-click on your desktop and select:

Properties > Desktop > Customize Desktop > Web (tab)
and uncheck "Lock Desktop Items", click OK and APPLY.

Also, check this setting:

Right-click MY COMPUTER and select:
Properties > Advanced > Performance settings >
Visual Effects, place a check next to "Use Drop Shadows
for Icon Labels on the Desktop", then click "apply".

Desktop icons and icon labels may not display background transparency or the drop shadow effect in Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP:
