No background color in IE and Money

No color display in Money. this is supported, and the tech says it is a
Windows problem since Money platformed on Windows. However, the website says
no support available because OEM software puchase. the tech at Sony said to
format the drive, but i only want to do that as a last resort. firefox
display just fine, so i know the common settings on the machine are ok.
