Hello --

The Automatic Update Service in my list of services (Run
services.msc) is blank. Double-clicking on it yields an
error message. I cannot activate it.

My only way to get updates is through IE 6.

The Automatic Update service USED TO work. I don't know
what happened to eliminate that service option. I'm the
administrator of my computer, and I have full rights.
I've tried "repairing" Windows XP with the original disk,
but that didn't work. I DO have svchost.exe on my
computer -- can that help?
