no audio/mixer device

i had to reformat my computer and when i had to reinstall
my sound card. but now when i go to the volume control
and try to open it, it says that no audio/mixer devices
found and that i need to install them. what are they
talking about and how can i fix this problem?

You need to install the software provided by your Sound Card
manufacturer.
