I am trying to network 2 pc's at home - old & new, both
have unique copies of WinXP. I use a twisted pair cable
and am told this should be ok. I set up both as per Win
XP home networking wizard. I am quite sure my hardware is
ok. My new PC cannot "see" itself in the workgroup, as my
old PC can. I get a message that I may not have access
permissions (despite being an administrator (?or so I
believe). [I had to reload the software from a OEM from
MEsh who built my pc in the first place and I wonder if
there is a hidden administrator blocking me - or am I
being paranoid?]. The only way I can get my PC's
to "talk" is to start up my new pc in Safe mode with
network support - then my old pc can see it ok. I note
that there are 3 or 4 copies of svchost.exe running in
task manager..is this relevant?
Any ideas out there how to allow my new pc access the
workgroup it should.
