Files were copied over a shared cd writer on another
computer. On the original computer that contained the
files the Windows xp operating system was reloaded and
through that process the original users files and access
were deleted. Now the file and folders on the cd can be
seen on the cd, but no access is permitted to the files.
These are MS word and pagemaker files. Any help would be
appreciated. Files are read only (attribute) but can not
be changed.

Use a win 98 machine to read the cd? Or anythign that
does not recognize the windowss xp / 2k security codes,
that may work..
or if you can only copy them to the hard disk an admin can
reset permissions. A cd should not have these permissions
on it anyway, it should be the standard format not ntfs?
or can you set up a cd to be NTFS? this is an odd one =)

Thanks for your response. I've opened the cd on a Windows
98SE system and get the same message.
Permission denied
1. Check file permission
2. Use the file open and locate the doc.
