Newsgroups in Outlook

Is there any way to read these newsgroups in Outlook vs. opening a second
application to do so (Outlook Express)? It seems silly to me that the Top
Dog program needs to defer to the stripped down version for News Group
reading.

Thanks,

Outlook doesn't provide this functionality directly, but it does allow
you to intall an icon inside Outlook to make it "look" (for those who
want to make it look like it) being part of Outlook. Read about how to
do this in Outlook's help.

Outlook Express as a newsgroup reader or as an email client is not at
all stripped down. They are full-featured. Outlook just has more
functions with realated tasks, calendar, journal, etc. and more
sophisticated email editing (when integrated with Word as the editor).

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.

Outlook express is NOT a "Stripped down" version of outlook - they are two
completely different programs.

Thanks for the tip. I just don't understand why it can't be an inherent
feature in the "paid for", "feature added" program called Outlook.

I don't want to get into a semantic argument regarding Outlook vs. Outlook
Express, but if Outlook is supposed to do all that Express can (minus
newsgroup reading), why don't they add that functionality to Outlook so that
two programs would not have to be used?

Thanks, I'll give NewLook a, well...a look! :)

There are 2 being developed by third-party sources and they are in beta
(means use at your own risk and backup first or set a system restore point):
MAPILab NNTP: http://www.mapilab.com/outlook/nntp/.

NewsLook: http://www.ghytred.com/NewsLook/about.aspx.

From what I have heard, Newslook has the edge...

Even if newsreading were added to Outlook, you'd still need both programs,
since Outlook uses portions of Outlook Express to render messages. Outlook
Express MUST be installed for Outlook to function correctly.
