After adding the "News" command to the "Go" menu as described in the Outlook 2003 help menu, the command no longer shows up in the "Add or Remove Buttons" command list and has disappeared from the "Go" menu. I tried restoring Outlook but still can't locate the command.

Jimbo,

I'm having the same problem. Can't seem to find any fix on
www.microsoft.com but did after a couple minutes with google.com.

"Found the solution.... On Winxp, go into control panel, network and
internet connections, then go into internet options, then click on the
programs tab, and put outlook express as your default news reader. Go back
into outlook and add the news icon like before, when you're done, load up
the news reader, and it will ask to make outlook express your default
reader, click no, and uncheck that box that asks if you wanna check for a
default news reader next time. That should do it... it worked for me...
lemme know if it helps"

Before finding that I did workaroud the problem. Locate the msimn.exe on
your system and creating a shortcut to it. It doesn't bring the mail button
back in Outlook 2003 but at least you can start and use your mail reader.

My shortcut target is "C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe" /news

Thanks for the help

I tried your workaround first, as I still couldn't locate the "News" command in order to add it to the "Go" menu. That gave me access to the newsgroups

Then I tried to add the "News" command again, but I still couldn't find it. I must be losing my mind or something. I was in the middle of replying to you about not being able to find the "News" command when I decided to look once more. Surprise, surprise, it showed up in the "Add or Remove Buttons" menu. I don't know what happened or if I'm insane, but I added the command to the "Go" menu and closed/opened Outlook a few times. The command remained intact and the problem seems to have been fixed

Thanks a bunch..

The command reappears once you enable Outlook Express as the news reader in
Control Panel. You may have to reboot or restart Outlook before you see it.
