I see a lot of email addresses in this newsgroup in the format:

From: Name < (Name)@discussion.microsoft.com

How can I register to obtain an address (e-mail address removed)

HOWJADODAT?

Thanks very much

Janter

Those people are posting here using the Web interface instead of a
newsreader like you are. They have not registered for any specific address.

Windows Vista Mail Newsgroup on the Web:
http://www.microsoft.com/communitie...t.aspx?dg=microsoft.public.windows.vista.mail

If you just want to munge your address, go to Tools | Accounts | News |
Properties | General and change your address.

(e-mail address removed) would work fine, or make it

(e-mail address removed) if that is what you really want to see.

I've been told that procedure before, but being a basic PC dummy, it scares
the hell out of me to start changing email addresses. It seems like bad
things should happen. But what the hell, if I break it I'll have to ask you
guys to help fix it.

I've changed it so I guess the truth-teller will be to send this and see
what comes out the other end. I entered (e-mail address removed)

Thanks much.

You are not changing your e-mail address, you are only changing what is
displayed in a *newsgroup*. You don't need to post your real address like
you do in an e-mail. It goes through regardless.

What bad could come of it? You /don't/ start getting spam because you didn't
reveal your true address? Doesn't sound like bad things to me.

Yeeehaaa! It works. I get excited over even small successes.

Thanks to Bruce, John, Bob, Mac, and Frank
