i have recently bought a new emachines computer. I have an exsisting computer
with xp pro installed. new computer has xp home installed. both computers are
connected to dlink router and can access internet great. I am having problems
getting the computers to see each other on network. Any information would be
greatly appreciated.

It's hard to know what the problem is -- we don't know how you've
configured the network, how you're trying to get the computers to see
each other, or what happens when you do it. Here are some general
tips:

1. Run the Network Setup Wizard on each computer. If it detects the
router's shared Internet connection, tell it to use that connection.
Otherwise, tell it that the computers connect to the Internet through
a residential gateway.

2. If there are firewall programs (Norton, McAfee, ZoneAlarm,
PCCillin, Sygate, etc) on the computers, configure them to allow
access by computers on the local area network.

3. Browsing through My Network Places is unreliable. Try accessing
the other computer directly by typing its name in the Start | Run box
in this format:

\\computer
