Newbie: Start Typing not a full replace??

I tried to get the answer via Google...but nothing was coming up right.
When I click on a cell in my worksheet and start typing it automatically
replaces the text that currently exists. Is there a way (without having to
double-click or go up to the top entry line) for me to quickly be able to
start "adding" to what already exists?

Hit F2 and start typing.
