I have MS Office 2000 running XP Pro.

Recently , in an Excel worksheet which consisits of several lines of
data , followed by some blank rows which are , in turn , followed by a
"TOTAL " row , I want to insert another blank row between the data and
the TOTAL row .

This is due to additional data rows approaching the separating blank
row between these and the TOTAL row.

Formerly this was done simply by selecting INSERT>ROW but now , when I
do this I get the message :-

"....To prevent possible loss of data MS Excel cannot shift
non-blank cells off the worksheet. Try to delete cells to the right
and below your data........"

There are no non-blank cells to the right of any data as the high-
lighted row is blank ! There is data below this highlighted row ,
i.e. the row containing the totals of all preceding data rows but , I
have performed this operation before in Excel without receiving this
message .

Can anyone explain why I might now , suddenly , be receiving such a
message ?

Victory,

It seems that somehow something is entered in one of your last rows.
By inserting a row Excel would "drop" that info from your sheet and thus it
gives a warning.

If you are sure you can delete that data : Select all the rows from beneath
your Totals row down to row 65536 and delete them.
After that I think you can insert your lines again.

A shot in the dark. Do you have 65,536 rows of info? or do you have data on
the last row (65536th)?
