Newbie - Line Spacing

I am having a problem with the space between lines of text after I have hit
enter. The space between the lines is too large & I can't figure out how to
decrease the size of the space. I tried spacing, before and after, but that
didn't seem to help. Maybe it has to do with the theme I am using?

Shift/Enter will produce a single space. However this will carry over the formatting of the previous line. (centering, right, left, etc.)
An enter will be 2 lines, but you can change the format. Just something to keep in mind in case it's needed.
 
Thanks. How do I change the format so that enter is only 1 line?

You can't. That is standard html, which creates a new paragraph.

And which is much easier to read. Paragraphs with white space between
them are easier on the eyes than those with no space.

Try reading each of the following sections of text, and see which is easier:
