Please be gentle, i am new to the world of the newsgroup. :)

But the article i read just now confirms i'm in the right place. So, here's
what i'm thinking. I'd like to poke around under the hood of the new Win
Vista beta; i understand it's getting late enough in the game for a few
non-propeller heads such as myself to take the plunge?

The basics i know: I must first backup all my data and system files. For
that i have my DVD + CD/RW drive for storage. Next, i'll need to repartition
my hd (in NTFS?) to accomodate both of Win XP Pro, and the Vista beta. From
there, i need the "...for Dummies" edition, please.

Here are some of the necessary specs from that System Properties doohicky:

Dell Inspiron 600M
Intel Pentium M 1.6 GHz - 1 GB RAM
MS Win XP Pro - v 2002 SP2

Additionally, i have System Restore set to the maximum disk space usage;
and both of my Remote Assistance and Desktop are enabled.

you forgot to mention size/number of hd's or free space
Initially; you will need a third party tool eg Partition Magic, to partition
an existing installation, unless you plan to blow all away and start afresh.

13.5gb free?
Then I doubt you have enough free space to run the two o/s effectively /
without problems

Yawn. Couldn't you get a girlfriend or something? If that's too
frightening, perhaps a nice puppy or hamster. Get a life.

How much more free space would it take, do you think, DL? The disk-cleanup
only gained me about .5 Gig! I could upgrade, i 'spose, or remove seldom used
aps?? There's always a workaround.... :)

And to the esteemed flamer below; i have three girlfriends, and a rottweiler
bitch. And she has a cat she loves to play with (they grew up together - when
they get out there's no stopping them). How 'bout you get two lives, and
bring me back one to burn in effigy?

Meanwhile, find something more productive to do with your time so you don't
need to entertain yourself flaming newbs on the newsgroups... I never said i
was a 'net newb, did i?
