I recently had to get a new hard drive and reinstalled XP Home. I made some
mistakes copying files from the old drive from the new and would really
appreciate some help:

Doc & Settings: Main user (me) is listed as "Owner" and will not allow me to
change it to Ron, says it's a Windows file. So I did a drag and drop or
"Ron" from the old HD to "Owner" hoping it would overwrite. It just
duplicated another set of folders but this time called "Ron". I only need
one set. How do I delete or change the "Owner" folder so I can place my
"Ron" folder in its place?

When I moved Favorites from old to new it made a sub-directory of Favorites
called "Favorites". How do I get rid of the seconl layer title so I just
have one Favorites folder?

I don't mean to be insulting at all, but you may want to have someone
familiar with computers or a local technician make those changes for
you.

To change the name of the Owner folder, you cannot just rename the
folder. You have to rename the Windows user account Owner, which you
may or may not be able to do. You can try creating another Admin
account on the machine, logging in under that account, and then
renaming the Owner account. May or may not work.

As for the Favorites issue, it sounds like you dragged your old
Favorites folder into the new Favorites folder instead of replacing it.

Thanks, you're probably right. I have set up XP three times in the past four
years without this happening. It always named the folder "Ron" or whatever I
filled in the block, never Owner. I guess it isn't important as long as it
doesn't affect anything else.

You have to create new user account then delete the old. I did it on a
customer computer a few months ago. A lot of messing about in that case as
weird folders were being created but I got it sorted in the end. You can't
just delete the folders though so be careful.
