Dick

I JUST GOT DONE CLEANING OVER 300 FILES WITH "'AD-AWARE
===LAVASOFT". IT WAS FREE AND IT GOT RID OF VIRUSES
THAT NORTON COULDN'T.

This may be a surprise to you but you just got rid of malware, spyware and
possible hijackers. In other words - junk. To get rid of viruses you must
install
and run a proper anti-virus program and your Norton is presently a waste of
time and money. A much better program, and it is FREE, is AVG. Anti-virus
by Grisoft. Try it, you'll find more with this program than Norton.

You should not depend on an anti virus program to get rid of spyware.
You should not depend on anti spyware program to get rid of viruses.
You need both.
You just use Ad-Aware to get rid of spyware, it will do nothing for
viruses.
If you got rid of Norton AV and did not replace it with an anti virus
program, your computer is at risk.

In most cases, one would suggest that outside influences are the primary
cause of computer failure,, in your case, I would put it at 50/50..

Adaware, as it's name suggests, is a program designed to remove adware and
other such junk.. Norton anti-virus is for removing ............. (fill in
the blank)..

"Dick" is an appropriate name. I would imagine that your last name must be
"Head".

What AdAware got rid of was not viruses.

Congrats! You just made a fool of yourself in front of the world!

First of all, please unstick your CapsLock key. Posting in all
caps, as you have done, is the Usenet equivalent of shouting, and is
considered very rude. More importantly, posting in all caps makes the
post very hard to read, further reducing your chances of getting help.

Secondly, Ad-Aware didn't find or remove a single virus, nor is it
intended to do so. It's sole purpose is to scan for and remove
adware/spyware. Most antivirus applications, including Norton's, do
not even scan for or protect you from adware/spyware, because, after
all, you've installed them yourself, so you must want them there,
right?

Actually, my experiences over the years indicate that closer to
10% or less of computer problems are caused by "outside" influences.

Well I guess I was wrong in calling what I had a
virus but.....What ever I had Norton couldn't get rid of
it except for a price. I am a novice with the
computer and don't use this site that much. you
people are not kind especially the guy who called me
a "dick head". I do thank you for your responces.
