I want to create a "new user" under Windows XP but I would also like to
carry over my Outlook settings, mail and address book. How can I transfer
over those items. I will eventually cancel my current "User Name".
Thank you,
Steve Shattuck

Copy your Outlook PST file(s) over.

You should also look into the Windows File and Settings Transfer Wizard
on your system.

You can;

- Create your new user.
- In the current user goto,
<Driveletter>:\Documents and Settings\<CurrentUserName>\Local
Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
- Might as well back up the *.pst file while your there, copy it to a
location where you can access it from the new user.
- Boot up Outlook in the new user account.
- In Outlook (arsuming 2002, 2003; might be a bit different in 2000) do
this,
File|Import and Export...|Import from another program or
file|Next>|Personal Folder (.pst).

You can import your addresses as well similarly if you have them in Outlook.
Otherwise export from where ever first, then import them into Outlook.

As for settings, use the 'Save My Settings Wizard' that usually is in,
Start|All Programs|....|Microsoft Office Tools. Save you settings to a file.
Then use this tool again to restore your settings in Outlook.

Using Import/Export options in OL, for a pst, is asking for trouble
Within OL, File>Open>data File....browse to location of pst
