New User Account

I have just created a new user account for my daughter so that all her files
don't need keep crowding mine.
On her site, when she opened up Microsoft-word a box opened asking to
install Microsoft 2003 which only took a couple of seconds.
However when she went to use it, all the characters on the keyboard
(especially at the top) are incorrect - e.g. y is a 3, u is a 5 etc..
Now she is still using my site as anything she writes is incorrect - Please
help.

All are incorrect? Or just special characters like $, & etc?

Check the country setting for her profile is correct.
(Control Panel from the Start Button, Regional and Language options).

What country are you from? Installs are American as standard, if you want
something else choose a custom install don't keep hitting OK's otherwise it
thinks you are American, this can also affect things like spell check,
dictionaries , thesaurus........
