Well I have a Toshiba Satellite L40 18Z with an Intel dual core T2330
processor, 2GB RAM with an 80 GB HDD and Vista Home Premium with Office 2007
and it's running as sweet as a nut - pretty fast enough for me.

I looked up your laptops specs, and here are some of the stuff that may be
the cause of your computer being slow:

Processor: Your processor only has 1MB L2 cache. That's a bummer. 65nm Intel
Core 2 Duos usually have between 2-4MB L2 cache.
Hard Drive: 4200 RPM? You've got to be kidding me. I found a lot of
under-1000$ laptops that have 5400 RPM HDs and blazing Core 2 Duo processors.

Other than that, everything's fine. ATI Radeon HD 2600 is a good graphics
card. DDR2-667 is fast as far as laptop RAM is concerned, and you have 2GB of
it. Very nice.

What's bringing your system down is most probably the hard drive. 4200 RPM
is slow. 1MB L2 cache is OK if you're not gaming or using rendering software.
Even no L2 cache can play DVDs. Just go fix that hard drive or something. If
your laptop is compatible with one of the newer 5400/7200 RPM HDs, go ahead
and get one of them. You won't regret it. On my laptop, Vista loads around
40s with a 5400RPM drive and 1GB of RAM.

This is rather common for new Vista PC's. One of my customers, against my
recommendation, went out and bought one of those tiny Sony's, I can't
believe how slow it is, even after a format and generic Vista install to get
rid of the bloatware it is dog slow.

You got a deal? Then why are you complaining? We all know you hate Vista
so why are you using it?
Best you flatten the HDD and install XP.
