I need to set up a database for a client. If anyone is familiar with
Goldmine, he wants the set up to look something like that. So the customer
information/contact is at the top of the page and there would be tabs in the
middle or bottom of the page for list of history, notes, etc

Can anyone tell me if this is possible?

yes, ms-access is a software developers tool and you can build applications
as you ask.

On the other hand, you might not want to re-invent the wheel. A program like
GoldMine has likely 5 or more people working full time on that product.
Further, that product has been around for at least 10 years. So, you are
easily looking at 50 man years of software development to make a product
like goldmine.

when you think about the investment of time, a product like GoldMine is
cheap.

If you keep your requirements simple, then you can build a application for a
reasonable cost in ms-access,but make no doubt bout it, making good software
applications takes a lot of time and a lot of skill.

thadmin,

I'm echoing Albert's advice on this. We have been using Goldmine for years
from the days of version 3 to the current version 6.5. You would spend much
more than the cost of Goldmine developing Access to duplicate Goldmine's
functionalities.

Goldmine is a contact management database but very much a sales-oriented
application, so if you are a sales oriented shop you would benefit from it
right out of the box.

We have used Access a lot to complement Goldmine since some of our needs are
unique and not quite available in Goldmine. So the point is, use Goldmine
and if it's not enough, complement it with Access.
