It works fine for removing temp files, but don't use the registry cleaning
functions. Don't use any registry cleaner.

our resident net nanny is full of it as usual.
his opinion is contrary to microsoft position.
see this web site on One Care and registry cleaning.

maybe you are posting to a usenet news group, I AM NOT. I post to microsoft owned news groups via msnews.microsoft.com.

if you do not like the format of my posts then maybe you should learn how to manage your computer to be able to read in a format of your choice.

or go back to tiddle winks.

Of course you are. It is a public group propagated on Usenet. Which
server you post/read through is irrelevant.

I have used CCleaner since day one, have never had a problem. But do
use with cation. Use the Reg. cleaner with lots of cation.

I have used the Issues feature on three computers since CCleaner came
out without any problems except improved performance. I have a friend
who repairs hundreds of computers and he uses it too without any adverse
consequences, not ONE.

Now, my conclusion is based on actual experience. What is your
conclusion based on?

I haven't had any problems with it.

I went to try it one time to see what it would/could do.
when I noticed it was trying to clear lots of stuff I did not want it to touch, had to spend some time trying to figure out how to tell it not to.
for instance, it wanted to clear all my cookies. some I retain and backup/restore as needed.
way too many registry entries it wanted to delete.

just be aware that any cleaner is not intelligent.
you need to review what it wants to do and make your own choice as to let it or not.

Don't use the registry cleaner function in CCleaner, or any registry
cleaner. They are a snake oil remedy that can cause more harm than good.
There is no benefit to routine cleaning of the registry. Read the many
threads in here where this issue is discussed.

and also read the ms advise regarding using a registry cleaner and recommending it.
