I am setting up a new network with 4 PCs and 1 laptop. The laptop and 1 of
the PCs have XPHome already installed. I am looking at purchasing either home
or Pro to install on the other 3 PCs. My question is: Should I stay with
XPHome and can I install andregister the 1 copy of the software on all 3
computers.
Is there any advantage to running pro over home? This wired/wireless
network is for home use with 2 kids.

For a home network there is no advantage to Home versus Pro versions of
Windows. And no, you can't install and register the same copy of XP on all
three PCs, you'll need three copies of Windows.

I prefer Pro if you can swing the extra cost - there are a lot of
potentially v. useful features missing from Home. I never recommend Home.
Remote Desktop, Offline Files, etc etc etc etc [1].

You must buy licenses/copies of the OS for each PC that will use it.
