I put more RAM in my laptop. Is there something that I need to do to make it
start working, or should it automatically start working? When I look at the
profile of my computer, it still says that it only has the amount of RAM that
the laptop came with.

Thanks!

Assuming you purchased the correct type of RAM and it is installed
correectly and there is no trouble with either the RAM or the slots they
plug into - it should just work.

What does your system BIOS show - for RAM?

I really don't know all that much about computers. I went to a comp. store
today and said that I wanted to buy 512 ram for my laptop (which I brought
in, but the guy didn't look at). He sold me one that he said works with 99%
of computers. So I got it, put it in, but my computer still says it only has
256. Do I need to switch where the two are? I just added the new RAM into
the second slot. Or does it just not work? Thanks for your help!!

You need to return the RAM and before you go - find out what you REALLY need
to buy.

Enter your system information here:

(Or at least post back with the make/model of the laptop here.)

Was it a "Computer Store" or was it "Best Buy" or "Circuit City" or some
sort of chain store like those?

Thanks. Yeah, it doesn't seem like it works with my laptop. I went to the
"crucial" site. Thanks for that. Hopefully that will help. This is
frustrating. Thanks a lot!

Live and learn. =) When either of those things stop - well - you're dead.

Let us know how it goes!
