I have a new printer, old one (allinone type) died on me, Do I need to
uninstall the old one before I hook=up my new one or will it overwrite? It
is not the same printer.

If so, do I simply go to add/remove and do it that way?

Thanking you in advance.

Uninstall the support software from Add/Remove programs. Then
open the printers applet and Right Click the printer, choose Uninstall.
A reboot may be required as some printers install Startup monitor
software to watchdog the printer.

Go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall the old printer if it shows up
there. If there are no entries for the old printer, go to the Printers
applet in Control Panel and delete the old printer.

Then follow the installation directions that came with your new printer.

You disconect the old printer and in Add/Remove you uninstall their
software.
Follow the instructions with your new printer as to the method of
installation (It varies)

Yes you should remove the old printer. Otherwise how is XP to know what you
want to do? Yes remove any software installed for it through Add/Remove
programs. Then go to Start | Printers and remove the printer from in there.
Reboot, then follow the directions exactly to install the new printer. Some
installation routines require the driver be installed first, then attach the
printer and complete the process. Others work by attaching the new printer
and installing from the prompts.
