Please help. I'm working in Vienna and my laptop gave up
the ghost. I bought a brand new desktop running XP Home,
installed as OEM. It is, of course, in German. Is there a
way to change it so everything appears in English? Sorry
if there's a simple answer to this, but I'm going crazy
here! Many thanks.

One cannot change from one language version of Windows to
another language version. You'll need to purchase a "full version"
of Windows XP in your desired language version and then perform
a "clean install".

Greetings --

You cannot upgrade or "patch" from one language version of the OS
to another, so you'll have to purchase and use the full version of
English WinXP to perform a clean installation.
