I don't see a map, only a grey rectangle, no matter which browser I
use. What fancy extra's do I need? (don't want them though).

If you are running Proxomitron (as am I), then temp-disable ("Bypass All
Filters") it.

I had done that already, it makes no difference. I also disabled all
non-standard security options in the browsers.

I'm far more interested in seeing a bigger picture of the damage done to
the entire coastal area down there than simply New Orleans. New Orleans
was a disaster waiting to happen and now they're talking about
rebuilding that shithole that never should have been created in the
first place. What a waste of money that will be. Day before yesterday it
was estimated at one billion dollars, then yesterday 150 billion, who
knows what tomorrow? It's about as idiotic as those coastal mansions in
Florida that they keep rebuilding.

Holland in a hurricane belt..... real smart. At least they should triple
the thickness of the dikes as well as make them twice as high. Of course
it's only a matter of a couple of years before global warming (i.e.
_thickening of the atmosphere from fossil fuel consumption_) creates a
hurricane large enough push a surge past such a system.

Holland? He? What? I'm from Holland ...

The lokal newspaper here wrote that the budget for dikes in the Netherlands
is much much more than in the USA. Someone suggested even to invade a
country to earn more money :-)

The pumps @ New Orleans could do the work ... but they didn't work. Why
not? I think it's not only a matter of the weather offensive but also the
defensive of mankind.

Yes, but I said "Holland in a hurricane belt" as a reference to New
Orleans because that's basically what it is-was.

Nobody anticipated the fury of Katrina breaking through the levees
(dikes). Pumps were flooded too. They're working now though.

Eh? Not sure I understand that. 80)>

There's another "Holland in a hurricane belt" which is nearly forgotten
by the rest of the world. They don't have dikes large enough, they
don't have the money for pumps, they live in a river ostuary, and are
hit by tropical cyclones several times every year.

What is worse, their neighbours would open their flood gates if the
monsoon fills their tanks too much, no matter what is going on
downstream at the river Ganga. Because India doesn't like Bangla Desh
too much.

I tried everything, to no avail. I have IE6 and K-Meleon, nothing
works. I have never encountered this before so in all likelihood there
is something wrong with the code (scripts presumably).

Tons of other people access the site with no problems!

Hmmm. Since you have IE... could you check "Internet Properties" (Control
Panel), then 'Connections | LAN Settings | Proxy server | Advanced' ?

Might be a "kink" in there, somewhere.
